CalmRider™ provides educational digital resources designed to support safer groundwork and handling practices around horses. Our products include (but are not limited to) CALM & CONTROL™ (the 14-Day Groundwork Protocol), daily action sheets, safety cards, confidence materials, and barn-ready printables.

By accessing or using any CalmRider™ material, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

1. Not Professional Training, Medical, or Emergency Advice

The information provided by CalmRider™ is for educational purposes only.

  • It is not a substitute for in-person instruction from a qualified professional trainer, riding instructor, or behavior specialist.

  • It is not veterinary advice or medical advice for your horse.

  • It is not emergency response guidance for dangerous situations.

Always use your own judgment and seek professional, hands-on help when you feel uncertain, unsafe, or out of your depth.

If you believe you or your horse are in immediate danger, stop and get in-person assistance.

2. Working With Horses Involves Risk

Groundwork and basic handling can still result in serious injury. Horses can kick, strike, bolt, crowd, drag, or become unpredictable under stress.

By using CalmRider™ materials, you understand and accept that:

  • There is always a physical risk when handling a horse, even “just leading to turnout.”

  • You are fully responsible for your own safety decisions and actions.

  • You must stop immediately if you feel unsafe, overwhelmed, or out of control.

CalmRider™ cannot assess your individual physical ability, barn environment, horse behavior, footing, fencing, or level of experience. Only you can decide what is safe for you to attempt.

3. No Guarantee of Results

Every horse is different: age, temperament, health, past handling, environment, anxiety triggers, herd dynamics, and barn setup all matter.

For this reason:

  • We do not guarantee that your horse will stop pulling, rushing, crowding, freezing, or acting reactively.

  • We do not guarantee that you will feel “fully confident” after any number of days.

  • We do not guarantee that accidents, near-misses, or injuries will not occur.

Our goal is to help you develop calmer handling habits, clearer boundaries, and safer decision-making. We cannot guarantee outcomes or behavioral changes in your specific horse.

4. Personal Responsibility

By using any CalmRider™ resource, you agree that:

  • You are choosing to handle your horse at your own risk.

  • You will stay within your comfort level and physical limits.

  • You will not attempt techniques that feel unsafe or too advanced for you.

  • You will pause or walk away if you feel fear, panic, dizziness, instability, or loss of control.

It is always acceptable — and often safer — to step back, reset, or ask for help.

5. Supervision and Environment

Some horses require controlled setups, a second person present, professional support, or specific safety equipment.

You are responsible for:

  • Ensuring appropriate, safe, enclosed handling areas

  • Using proper equipment in good condition (halter, lead rope, gloves if appropriate)

  • Assessing footing, gates, aisles, and turnout areas for hazards

  • Keeping other people (especially children) at a safe distance during handling

If your barn rules conflict with anything in our materials, follow barn policy and seek guidance from barn management or a qualified professional on-site.

6. Mental and Emotional Safety

CalmRider™ also provides guidance for rider confidence, breathing, posture, and emotional reset after a scare.

Please note:

  • These resources are not therapy or psychological treatment.

  • We do not diagnose fear, anxiety, trauma response, panic, or other mental health conditions.

  • If you experience intense fear, flashbacks, shaking, or ongoing anxiety around your horse, consider seeking qualified mental health support and in-person horsemanship support before continuing.

Your emotional state matters. You are not “failing” if you step back to regroup.

7. Use of Materials

All CalmRider™ materials are intended for personal education and personal handling preparation only.

You agree that you will not:

  • Treat the materials as a professional certification.
